Be Your Own

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
from her book "Our Deepest Fear"

I believe people are inherently good. I believe we all strive to reach our goals, to make an impact on society, and to leave our mark.  But judgements get clouded, paths get warped, and sometimes people just lose their own way.  I know from personal experience, but I'm happy to say that I have moved beyond that,  asked forgiveness, and rejoice with where I am in life, experience and my own personal goals.  I do struggle with feelings of gorgeousness and brilliance, maybe some day I'll learn to accept those.  At least I know, that each idea I have originated with me. And so I guess, as Marianne suggests, that I am letting my light shine. My OWN light, for which I am very happy about. And I wont shrink, I'll keep on keeping on.

As the trade winds blow their power over our small island today, I'll rejoice in the liberation that I feel in being my own artist! Remember to follow your own path.

May you have a creatively blessed, enlightening and brilliant day!
